Children’s Musical Theater

Fourth Presbyterian church would like to address the following challenge/issue that we see present in our context. The community of South Boston, like so many others, needs to gather again to tell stories and sing songs. In particular, we need opportunities to come together, celebrate our young people, and experience life as those in the Image of Our Creator, i.e., experience art. After a tough 18 months, our neighborhood children need to gather again, feel community and create.

This project builds on our understanding of our ecclesial imagination in the following ways. Fourth Church has a tradition of bearing witness to the Love of God we know in Jesus by serving our South Boston neighborhood families with a variety of offerings, including programs in the arts. One of those ministries is Children’s Musical Theater. While we have been able to put together a few small Zoom and virtual theater projects over the past year, we have not been unable to do the big, live performances; and our neighborhood families miss them. This project seeks to move us toward robust community theater for South Boston with two weekly projects: 1) an all-ages production and 2) a teen theater workshop culminating in a showcase performance.
