“Community Care: Invited, but no pressure. Welcomed, but not forced. Seen, but not judged.”

Humble Walk ELCA
St. Paul, MN

At Humble Walk ELCA, we want to find ways to connect as a faith community after being apart for so long. We have many new folks who joined via the internet, and some who just haven’t returned in person. We feel like our connections to each other have been broken, and we need to forge new ones with everyone (both old and new). We want to make sure we do this gently and in the most welcoming way possible. People are tired, depressed, financially struggling, and just generally weary. Humble Walk wants to be a safe and inviting place for people to land.

We belong to each other, and we are created to be in a community. If we are cut off from community and each other, we struggle with where we belong. By finding ways to be together and deepening our connections to one another, we find our belonging and we find God.

The activities planned are:

  • Root Beer & Hymns on the lawn of Art House North,
  • “Prairie Dinner” meal catered by Shobi’s Table, a pay-what-you-can food truck and a ministry of the St. Paul Area Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America,
  • Hot chocolate and s’mores around fire pits on Art House North lawn,
  • Sunday evenings in Advent, we sing Holden Evening Prayer together in a candlelit sanctuary, and then gather around warm bowls of soup afterwards to chat and be cozy with one another,
  • In-Person Retreat at the beginning of 2022, to put everything down, go into the woods, and just be together.
